Bath-tub (sitting) 2003

This tub is a copy cast from the seating aria of a Rietveld chair (red and blue). When working on the chair measures I discovered that these dimensions changed over time. Rietveld originally used a matrix that was built with the number 3. Thus, the wood measures were 33mm x 33mm. Also the distance between the parts fitted in this grid.Today the cross section of the material is about 28mm x 28mm. This also has its influence on the proportions of the chair.  I think that the tub is a nice extension of the chair and it helps to sit very comfortable in the chair.
