Canada trail 2008

Brick, steel 100 x 0,6 m.
Location: Canadalaan, Bergen op Zoom.
In collaboration with Jeroen Hoogstraten.
Commissioned by the municipality of Bergen op Zoom
To be finished Oct. 2008

This design is based on two different kinds of bricks; one light and one dark. Along the trail, one can find both abstract images and pictograms. This work was comissioned as an object for kid's to play with. Right from the beginning the concept for this was; 'Play is everywhere', a tribute to play in the street where kids can use there incredible ability to make something out of nothing. Also included are games typically played out in the street like: hop over, playing with marbles, and drawing with chalk.

Canada trail is located at the Canadalaan, a street where WW2 Canadian troops marched in to liberate Holland. Pictograms are buillt in the trail to keep that memory alive.
